Mix it up. Do the opposite. Ruffle your routine.

If you could create your own holiday, what would it be?

Where else except LA can you catch a Zombie Fashion Show? This is what happens when fashion, make-up and special effects collide. We can’t help being intrigued. Check out the details here and on the Facebook event page. $10.

The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park is the place to get a groove on. With 7 stages and over 70 performers ranging from Billy Bragg to Conor Oberst, the words “hardly stricly” couldn’t be more apropos. The fest is part of the 11th annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, which invites musicians worldwide to participate and to use the power of Daniel’s love of music to help spread a message of hope and unity. Free.

The New Yorker Festival. Every year we are late to the party. Not this time. Catch an evening of stories from The Moth, a couple of book signings with your favorite author (we’re excited about Michael Chabon), even sample some rare whiskies. In no particular order. All program details here
